Q - I think I downloaded your plug-in but I can't find it on my system. Where is it?

A - During the download process, our instructions suggest that you take note of where you're storing the installation program on your system so you can access it. In case you didn't do that, you'll need to use the search facility of your operating system, which varies from system to system, to find it. You can then run it to install the plug-in.

Q - I ran the plug-in installation program and it finished but I still can't see your images. What's the problem?

A - There are usually multiple copies of the browser on your system, most of them downlevel. You should first determine which browser you use all the time, take note of its path, then be prepared to select this path during the installation process when the program tells you which "Destination Directory" it plans to put the plug-in file in. It is easy to select the proper path at this time.

Q - Is there any charge to look at your images or download a viewer?

A - No. Viewing and download of plug-ins or viewers is free to end-users. The image creators have paid for these for your enjoyment or to promote their products or services.

Q - The installation program completed and tried to bring up your web site but said you don't have a DNS entry, even though I just downloaded the plug-in from there. Is your web site stable?

A - The web site is fine. The installation program assumes that you are still on-line and brings up your browser so you can check to make sure everything loaded OK.

Q - I'm trying to install this under America Online, but the instructions on your "Download IPIX" page don't match the things I can do under AOL. What do I do now?

A - Installation under America Online requires v 3.0 or higher. If you meet this requirement, the plug-in should be automatically installed when you choose to get the plug-in from our web page (by means of ActiveX technology.)

Q - I clicked on an IVT but nothing happened. It even said "Document: Done" at the bottom. Is this working all right?

A - Internet screens are sent in "packets" that are transmitted and arrive separately. Since an IVT image may be larger than other screen content, it often takes 60-90 seconds to download an entire image, depending on modem speed and Internet traffic at that time. Please allow enough time to download the whole image and let it decompress before trying to navigate within it.

Q - I clicked on a small picture of one of your images but nothing happened. Is your software working?

A - Some browsers and operating systems require you to double-click instead of single-click. Try double-clicking on the image and see if this makes it work.

Q - After the image downloaded, I put the cursor over the picture but it spins so fast I can't really see it. Do I need a slower computer to use your product?

A - No. Moving the cursor closer to the center will cause the image to move slower. Away from the center causes it to move faster. The speed of movement, though, is under your control as the user.

Q - Can you see IVT images on WebTV?

A - No. WebTV has memory limitations and proprietary software that preclude the use of IVT technology.

Q - Your site has an East Coast and a West Coast download site. But I don't live close to either. Can't I download your plug-in?

A - Of course you can. The East Coast and West Coast selections are only there to speed up a transfer, but it really doesn't matter where you download it from. The files are small enough that it won't make much difference either way.

Q - I can view IVT images on some web sites but not others. What's wrong?

A - Newer web sites that have just started displaying IVT images may not have their server software set properly. If you run into one of these, please take note of the URL and call IVT Technical Support to have them contact the Internet Service Provider and help them update their server.

Q - Your web site says that you can use Microsoft's Internet Explorer, which I have on my system, but I installed the plug-in and it still doesn't work. Is there a different plug-in I need to load?

A - You must have the right version of IE to be able to install the plug-in. IPIX plugs will work with IE 3.0 and higher but not with 2.0, which is on many systems. You can check your version by looking at the "Help", "About Internet Explorer" choices when your IE browser is running.

Q - On my Macintosh, when I first downloaded an image, the screen went blank and locked up my system during the image download. Did your software break my computer?

A - No. You probably don't have enough memory allocated to the application. (This is particularly true with Netscape.) Simply raise the memory allocation for Netscape to at least 9 MB (or more) and it should work fine.

Q - I got part way through installing the plug-in when I had to stop for something else. When I tried to install it again, Windows told me there's not enough disk space, but there's still lots of room on my hard file. What's going on?

A - Some installation files are confusing the operating system. Clear your Windows|Temp folder of all ".tmp" files, then run the installation program again, and it should work properly.

Q - The IVT images are hard to see on my system. Are they all this dark?

A - You probably have the brightness turned down on your monitor. Adjust to a higher brightness level to suit your tastes.

Q - When my IVT is done loading and comes up on the screen, even after the cursor changes from the hourglass symbol, I can't seem to control it. Is your software functioning all right?

A - On some browsers, the whole IVT must be displayed on the screen to complete the download process. Use the scroll bar on the right hand side to move the IPIX up to where the bottom is visible on screen, then try controlling it again. It should work now.

Q - There's this nifty IVT image that comes up and turns around all by itself, but when I click on it, it stops moving. Did I break it?

A - No, you just took control. If you back up in your browser then go forward again, it will reload the image and "play" it as the originator intended. Once the automated movement has completed or at any time that you want to look around at your own pace, you can "take control" of the image by just using the cursor to direct navigation.

Q - I am running Internet Explorer, and I installed your ActiveX plug-in, but when I try to view one of your images, all I get is the blue logo/black screen.

A - Unregister the component(s) and then reinstall while making sure you wait for the entire download to complete.

Q - Why won't Internet Explorer let me install your plug-in? It thinks it could be a virus!

A - You need to lower your security settings to Medium or Low in your Security options. Internet Explorer will refuse most ActiveX content when on High.

Q - Will you plug-ins work with other Internet Browsers, like Mosaic or Opera?

A - Our plug-in is only optimized for Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator. That is not to say it will not work with other browsers, but we do not support other browsers at this time.

Q - When I am installing your software, I get an error 112 while Installshield is decompressing.

A - That means your TEMP directory is full. You need to go through and delete the .TMP files from your temp directory on your computer's hard drive, and then try to reinstall the software.
